Pau Gasol Joins MySafe:LA as Ambassador

Pau Gasol, the big man who helped the Los Angeles Lakers achieve back to back championships has joined MySafe:LA and the LAFD as an Ambassador for Children. He will participate in the creation of several Public Service Announcements with Fire Chief Millage Peaks, as well as visiting schools in support of MySafe:LA instructors and firefighters. “I’ve always been eager to help children,” said Gasol. “Fire safety is important for every family, and it’s just one small way I can give back to the community.”

One of the things that makes MySafe:LA different and useful is our approach to getting students involved,” says Cameron Barrett, Director of Education for MySafe:LA. Safe Community Project Director and LAFD Fire Captain Steven Owens agrees, saying, “When kids see our messages and have them reinforced by Pau Gasol, they’re very likely to take these messages home to their parents, where the process of making a safer home can begin.” MySafe:LA has not announced which schools Pau will visit.

MySafe:LA visits at-risk schools throughout Los Angeles each year, delivering fire and life safety educational messages and materials. For information on school programs, visit the website: https://www.mysafela.org
